Home Heat Hub

CHAPTER 1 – DESIGN CHOICES FOR THE HOME HEAT HUB

1.1 Introduction

Various design choices were considered during the planning stages of this project and while a
decision was made to design the Home Heat Hub using an Arduino Nano as the main microcontroller,
other designs may have to be revisited to design a more robust solution.
This section will cover the design concepts and models approached throughout the project timeline to
allow for further deliberation if required.
The initial design model was based around a single microcontroller which would control all of the
required hardware and communicate via a wireless Ethernet module to a web server. There were
issues encountered with this model during experimentation which will be covered later in this
document.
